Dental implants

After teeth have been lost, people want a reliable and aesthetically pleasing dental prosthesis. Dental implants firmly anchored in the bone replicate the natural shape of a tooth very closely. They can barely be distinguished from natural teeth, both by how they look and how they feel.

A healthy, full set of teeth for a firm bite cannot be taken for granted. But with today’s advances in dentistry you can still have the feeling of healthy teeth – with the help of dental implants firmly anchored in the bone.

Just like the roots of real teeth, these implants sit peg-shaped in the bone. Then aesthetically matching crowns are placed on the implants that have been firmly attached to the bone.

Dental Implants

Finally you can bite firmly and laugh freely again. Gaps do not only have to be filled for aesthetic reasons, however. If a tooth root is missing, the jawbone no longer carries any natural load and will slowly recede.

Many people know the possible consequences all too well from painful experience: In the long run neighbouring teeth or dentures are overloaded and become loose. As a result, more teeth can be lost.

The alternatives, removable partial or full dentures, are still like foreign bodies in the mouth, cause pressure points and severely limit the sense of taste, touch and temperature. As a result, these prostheses need constant readjustments.

Added to this there is uncertainty when speaking, laughing and eating. Such problems simply do not arise with implants. Because they give the denture a firm hold – making you feel as if you had your own real teeth again.

Treatment procedure

1. Initial examination and consultation

takes place. We take a lot of time to build up a precise picture of the conditions in your mouth, your lifestyle and the state of your dental health. In doing so, we take your personal wishes and options into special consideration. Then comes planning. Our extensive experience, together with modern diagnostics, ensures the best possible pre-planning of the chosen intervention. Digital x-rays and computer tomography in our own clinic provide a precise picture of the state of the jaw and form the most important basis for planning.

2. Inserting the dental implant

First, after local anaesthesia, the gums are opened. Then a precisely fitting drill hole is drilled in the jaw using a special drill bit. Now the root-shaped implant is inserted and the gums closed with a suture. During the healing phase, the bone stabilises the implant and, about two months later, bone and implant have become firmly fused together.

3. Implant healing time

It is essential for the area around the operation site to be protected for a period of time to ensure that the bone grows together with the implant as quickly and naturally as possible. The healing time depends on factors such as the quality and amount of bone. Usually, a temporary tooth-coloured denture is inserted immediately after implantation. In the case of an incisor gap, this helps to preserve the appearance of the teeth and allows you to speak normally again now. We will advise you what you need to be careful of during the healing phase. You should avoid anything that puts unnecessary strain on the implant site, especially during the first few weeks after the operation.

4. Placing the denture on the implant

After the implant has healed well and become firmly attached to the bone, we create a cast with the precise implant positions. We then manufacture a dental prosthesis that looks just like real teeth – in our own in-house dental laboratory. This is then placed on the implants and firmly attached to them.

Case studies

Implantate Deutschland
Single tooth implant with dental crown
A single tooth gap can be effectively closed with the help of an implant. This removes the need to file the supporting adjacent teeth, which is necessary for a conventional bridge. Implants are long-lasting and look completely natural.
Zahnbrücke Clinius
Dental bridge supported by an implant
If there are one or more gaps between your teeth, dental implants can be used to achieve the best possible anchoring of the dental bridge or crown. You cannot see the dental implant from the outside and you do not need to suffer healthy neighbouring teeth being filed to use as bridge supports.
Fester Zahnersatz Basel
Dentures securely fixed onto implants
Newly designed teeth – bright, stable and durably anchored to fixed dental implants. The comprehensive solution e.g. for severely damaged residual teeth or complete loss of teeth. This solution enables patients to chew, speak and bite firmly again just as if they had real, firm teeth.
Zahnprothese Rheinfelden
Removable prosthesis on implants
A removable prosthesis is attached to fixed dental implants. It is significantly more comfortable to wear and can lead to greater confidence with chewing, laughing and speaking.
Dental implants as a permanent, less expensive solution
Although initially more expensive, implants are the more economical solution in the long term compared to conventional crown or bridge restorations, which also entail the healthy adjacent teeth being filed to ensure proper attachment. This is not required when dental implants are used. They can now be used in almost all cases thanks to advanced surgical methods – bone augmentation can be used even for more elderly patients with reduced jaw bones, enabling them to enjoy the benefits of dental implants as artificial teeth.
