Who is the funding program for?
Our program is more than financial support. It is a shared dental development journey over several years — with a long-term perspective at our German dental clinic near Basel or the opportunity to later transition to our Swiss dental clinics. That is exactly why we carefully choose who we take this journey with.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply for the funding program?
The program is intended for German-speaking dentistry students studying abroad within the EU who are about to begin their studies or are already enrolled at any stage of their degree, and who can envision a structured professional development path with CLINIUS after their final exam.
How much funding is available?
CLINIUS supports selected students with up to €10,000 per academic year. The exact amount depends on the individual case and will be discussed during the selection process.
Is the funding a scholarship?
The funding is not a traditional scholarship, but rather structured as an interest-free loan with a clear career perspective. CLINIUS supports you during your studies with up to €10,000 per academic year – meaning up to €50,000 in total funding over the course of your degree. This loan structure creates a conscious commitment between you and CLINIUS — exactly what both sides need to responsibly enter into this multi-year investment in your future.
After your final exam, the loan amount gradually decreases year by year. For every full year you work at CLINIUS, one fifth of the loan is forgiven – after 5 years of full-time employment, the full loan amount is forgiven.
These 5 years at CLINIUS are not a “binding period,” but rather your structured entry into your professional career: onboarding with supervision and case discussions, external curricula including travel and hotel costs covered by us, specialization in your preferred field, and from year 5 onward, the opportunity to take on a senior dentist role or transition to H1 in Switzerland (clinic leadership or supported self-employment within a franchise model). While others are searching for jobs, applying, and figuring out their next steps after graduation, you can get started right away.
What happens if I decide not to join CLINIUS after my final exam?
Since the funding is structured as an interest-free loan, situations like this are also contractually regulated. If you decide not to join CLINIUS after graduation, the loan generally has to be repaid. Repayment can also be made in installments. The exact terms will be discussed openly before signing the agreement, so you know from the very beginning what to expect.
Where is CLINIUS located?
CLINIUS is located in Rheinfelden (Germany), right in the tri-border region of Germany, Switzerland, and France. Basel can be reached in around 20 minutes and Freiburg in approximately 45 minutes. This means you’ll experience modern dentistry in a large German dental clinic while living in an internationally connected region with a high quality of life.
Outside of the clinic, the location also has a lot to offer: the Rhine is right on your doorstep, while Basel and Freiburg provide culture, shopping, and nightlife. The Black Forest is perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and day trips. In winter, both Feldberg and the Alps are easily accessible. Basel Airport is only around 30 minutes away, making weekend trips simple and convenient.
For you, this means more than just a structured professional perspective at CLINIUS — it also means a location where studies, clinical placements, leisure time, and long-term career development can be combined seamlessly.
Do I need to come to Rheinfelden during my studies?
Yes. Clinical placements at CLINIUS are a fixed part of the funding program. During your semester breaks, you’ll come to Rheinfelden for 4 weeks at a time to get to know our team, treatment concepts, and everyday clinical practice.
This gives you a realistic insight into modern dentistry during your studies and allows us to explore together whether your future career path is a good fit for CLINIUS.
Accommodation and structured support during your stay are provided. Further details will be discussed personally during the selection process.
What requirements should I meet?
You should have very good German language skills, be studying dentistry abroad within the EU or planning to do so, and have a genuine ambition to become highly skilled in your field. Reliability, willingness to learn, openness to feedback, and an interest in a long-term perspective with CLINIUS are also important.
